These are quiet, restful photographs, Joel. It takes time and patience to just be in a place. We've lost the art of being present. Wherever we happen to be, we need to be fully present if we hope to connect to a place and the life that resonates there. Showing up is to arrive at a location. Being fully present in a place is to feel its pulse, hear its heart, and share its breath.

Beautiful words Mark. I couldn't agree more. I hope stories such as this resonate and the more stories such as this that are shared, end up having some impact on how we and others show up in and for the natural world.

Lovely images Joel. I wish my sons were more interested in spending time in nature. My eldest is more predisposed to it, and slowing down from time to time, but my youngest, who is 8, tends to be even more of a livewire and focused on sports almost 100% of the time.

Hi Ed

Thank you for reading my post and for taking the time to reply, and share your comments. Yeah we are all different I guess, I see different approaches to being in nature from my children .. its true.

I guess all we can do is offer them these moments in the natural world. They may slowly and with time come to their own understanding and connections to nature, from different angles to what we had perceived .. though let's continue to share and encourage these gifts of the natural world with them ... we can show them a potential path, with our love of these environments ...
